We constantly strive to encourage each child’s independence and self-esteem through the use of positive wording and praise. We keep discipline in the classroom by being very consistent with the rules that have been established from the first day at school. The children thrive in this setting of familiar boundaries.
We learn through play and at the level the individual child is at, as there is a wide range of developmental difference within this age group. Some children see a colorful puzzle piece, some see a red piece, some see a
red triangle.
We have many literacy-based themes that we carry over in our projects and at circle time.
We work constantly with self-help skills; learning how to care for our coughs and sneezes, learning how to be independent in the bathroom, learning how to put on and zip coats. Our daily ‘helper’ charts give the children the opportunity to count the children present that day, to report the weather, to help set our snack table, and best of all, to be the leader for the day.
Every day in our classroom is filled with fun, laughter and learning. Our main goal at Bright beginnings is to ensure that all our students have a wonderful first experience in the school setting. They have lot of school ahead of them in the future, so we want their beginnings to be a ‘warm and fuzzy’ one.
